This is a job we did for a mini warehouse facility that needed sheets of transfer taped numbers 1 – 30.  All the numbers are 4″ tall in White.  White numbers are perfect for doors and door posts that are a little darker and can provide sufficient contrast. For lighter colored backgrounds a dark blue or black are more appropriate.  This order was placed using our online Transfer Taped Numbers SHOP page.

The image below shows the numbers cut, transfer taped, and then cut into individual unit numbers for the customer.  In this form, they are very easy to apply.  Simple peel, stick, and squeegee.  A self storage unit can easily be numbered in less than a minute.  The image shows just the first set that was purchased.  We also cut, taped, and separated numbers 11 – 30 for this customer.

We carry self storage door numbers in two layouts, horizontal (side by side) or vertical (up and down).  The picture below shows the difference.  A horizontal layout is the most common for mini warehouse doors and buildings, however, for door posts or door frames, a vertical layout is needed.  We carry both styles in all sizes of numbers and letters.  Horizontal letters are available in both non transfer taped and transfer taped sheets.  Vertical letters are available in transfer taped pre-spaced letters only.  Transfer taped letters are pre-spaced and pre-masked to hold them together during installation.  Simply apply, and peel off the transfer tape layer.

Transfer taped self storage numbers and letters cost a little more due the extra labor and materials needed to produce them.  However, there are advantages to applying transfer taped decals.  First, the application is quick with no dry time.  Second, the characters are held to together by an application tape so you get perfect spacing.

To apply transfer taped graphics, place the taped letters on your surface and hinge one side with masking tape.  Then peel the backing off the letters until the adhesive side is exposed.  Finally, squeegee the letters onto the surface.  Once the letters are pressed on firmly, peel the transfer tape off of the letters and you’re done.

Applying our vinyl self adhesive storage numbers using the wet method is very simple.  The wet method is used to apply letters and numbers that are not transfer taped.  For instruction on how to apply transfer taped letters and number, click on the link to the left.

To apply wet, simple mix about 16 ounces of water with a few drops of liquid soap like Dawn or Joy.  Keep the mixture very mild. (no more than 1/4 teaspoon)  Too much soap will impede adhesion.  Peel the number off of the carrier sheet and spray the sticky side with the mild soapy solution.  Avoid getting the paper wet.  Then spray the surface you wish to number, lay the number onto the surface, and gently press on.  Squeegee lightly at first and when the decal begins to dry, squeegee harder.  Make sure to get all the liquid out from behind the decal.  Once the number is on, dry, and pressed on, you are done.

For our fonts, we try to keep it simple.  Since self storage or mini warehouse self adhesive vinyl letters and numbers are very utilitarian, we have two very basic and easy to read fonts available, Impact and Arial Bold.  Images are provided below to help you decide which is best for you.  If you need a special font, that’s not a problem for us.  Just use our contact form and let us know what you need.
